These are the discography and certification of American rapper and jazz/blues singer Dana Owens, better known by her stage name Queen Latifah.
Latifah's first album, ''All Hail the Queen'' was released on November 7, 1989 by Tommy Boy Records. The album was a moderate success in the United States, eventually selling 150,000 copies, and 700,000 Worldwide. The album charted at #124 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, and #6 on the U.S. R&B Chart.
Latifah's second album, ''Nature of a Sista'' was released on September 3, 1991 by Tommy Boy Records. The album saw less success, selling 100,000 copies in the United States, and 500,000 copies Worldwide. The album charted at #117 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart and a lower position on the R&B Chart of #32.
Latifah signed a new record deal in 1992 to Motown Records and released her third album, ''Black Reign'' on November 16, 1993. The album fared much better than her previous releases, becoming her first album to earn a Gold certification in the United States. The album charted well, reaching #60 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, and #15 on the U.S. R&B Chart. The album has sold 500,000 copies in the United States and 1,500,000 Worldwide.
After a five year hiatus from the industry due to the death of her brother Lance Owens, Latifah released her much anticipated fourth album, ''Order in the Court'' on June 16, 1998 from Motown Records. The album showed the same treatment as her second record, selling only 100,000 copies in the United States and 500,000 copies Worldwide. The album fared lower on the charts, reaching #95 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, and #16 on the R&B Chart.
In 2002, Latifah released her first greatest hits compilation titled, ''She's the Queen: A Collection of Hits'' through Motown Records. The album sold respectively, selling 50,000 copies in the United States and 370,000 Worldwide. The album charted well, making it to #95 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, and #29 on the R&B Chart.
In 2004, Latifah released her fifth studio album, ''The Dana Owens Album'' through A & M Records/Creative Battery/AEG Live. The album was a large success, selling 2,000,000 Worldwide, and 730,000 copies in the United States. The album charted at #16 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, and #11 on the R&B Chart. The album also earned her her second gold certified album in the United States. The album remains her biggest selling effort to date.
In 2007, Latifah released her sixth studio album, ''Trav'lin' Light'' through Flavor Unit/Verve Records. The album fared extremely well in the United States, selling 700,000 copies and 2,500,000 copies Worldwide. The album Charted well, making it to #11 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, and #6 On the R&B Chart. The album also earned her her third gold certified album in the United States.
In 2009, Latifah released her seventh album, ''Persona'' through Flavor Unit/Universal Records. The album saw respectable success, making it to #25 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and #3 on the U.S. R&B Chart, making it her highest charting effort. The album sold 1,200,000 copies Worldwide and 350,000 copies in the United States.
In 2012, it was confirmed Latifah was recording a new album, set to be released in 2013.
Throughout her career she has released a total of eight studio albums, (including a Greatest hits compilation); six Hip-Hop/R&B influenced and two all-singing jazz influenced. She has released a total of twenty three singles as well. In the US, she has three RIAA certified gold albums.
